Audition For The Little Mermaid Jr

In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above. But first she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.

AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE IN TWO PARTS: 

Monologue Auditions:
Monday, November 24th at 5:45pm or
Tuesday, November 25th at 5:45pm

Music and Choreography Audition For Everyone:
November 30th at 12:00pm

Casting calls will be completed by December 2nd

Auditioners should prepare: 

- 1-2 minute monologue
- 16 bars of an upbeat song (bring sheet music)
- a headshot or school photo, and resume if available
- a list of possible rehearsal conflicts
- Dress to move, no short skirts or flip-flops

Casting:

ARIEL: A little mermaid who longs to be human.
CARLOTTA: Headmistress in Prince Eric’s palace and Ariel’s greatest human ally. Warm and maternal. non-singing
CHEF LOUIS: Over-the-top head chef in the palace. He is always wild and frenetic.
CHEFS*: Chef Louis’s assistants.
FLOTSAM & JETSAM: Ursula’s slippery spies. These electric eels are sinister and sneaky
FLOUNDER: Ariel’s sincere and sensitive best friend who is loyal to the end.
GRIMSBY: Prince Eric’s prim and proper valet, rigid in personality and constantly trying to guide Prince Eric towards the throne.
GULLS*: Scuttle’s flock of zany “back-up singers” who help explain human stuff to Ariel.
KING TRITON: Rules the sea and is a force to be reckoned with. non-singer
LAGOON ANIMALS*: The Lagoon Animals try to convince Prince Eric to kiss Ariel.
MERFOLK*: The Merfolk of King Triton’s Court
MERSISTERS*: Ariel’s siblings (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana) full of personality & sass.
PILOT: The head sailor on Prince Eric’s ship who entertains the sailors with wild tales of the sea
PRINCE ERIC: The adventurous prince who captures Ariel’s heart.
PRINCESSES*: The six Princesses try everything they can to win the heart of Prince Eric.
SAILORS*: The crew of Prince Eric’s ship eager for adventure and ready to tackle a storm.
SCUTTLE: Know-it-all seagull who serves as Ariel’s expert on humans, funny and off-beat.
SEA CHORUS*: Responsible for creating each world within the show.
SEA CREATURES*: The ensemble under water animals in King Triton’s court.
SEAHORSE: The court herald for King Triton.
SEBASTIAN: The meticulous and anxious crab who tries to keep Ariel safe
TENTACLES*: Extensions of Ursula, the poor unfortunate souls who are now trapped in her lair.
URSULA: The manipulative sea witch who tries to overthrow King Triton, cunning, devious and will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

*Actors may be cast in multiple roles

Some roles may not be cast gender specific

The AristoCats KIDS
Audition Dates: April 13 & 14 at 5:45pm
Possible Call Back: April 15 at 5:45pm
Production Dates: May 29 – Jun 7

*For Musicals: Prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue, poem, or short story as well as 16 bars of 1 upbeat song or 1 ballad. Sheet music only, no CD’s or tapes please. Accompanist provided. Dress to move.

For Plays: Prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue, poem, or short story.
